Analyse of Diptera larvae

Our incubator has been used to study communication in necrophagous Diptera larvae. At the Univeristy of Lille 3 scientists (Quentin Fouche, Valery Hedouin and Damien Charabidze) analysed two species: Calliphora Vomitoria and Lucilia Sericata. Larvae were obtained from adult flies collected in the field and reared in the laboratory.

One of the finally confirmed hypoteses proved that the aggregated larvae can reach adulthood faster than scattered larvae, increasing their chances of survival. One of our ST cooled incubators was used in this experiment while working with the biological material.
