CHL ATEX laboratory refrigerators – safe storage of samples that may create an explosive atmosphere

The CHL ATEX series ensures safe storage of materials that may create explosive atmospheres thanks to its inner chamber made in accordance with the ATEX standard.

Laboratory refrigerators CHL ATEX series are modern devices designed for storing flammable and volatile substances. Their design complies with the ATEX 2014/34/EU directive, and the Ex h technology reduces the risk of ignition inside the chamber, meeting the requirements for zone 2.

ATEX certification applies to the inner chamber only of the refrigerator. The external housing of the device is not intended for use in hazardous (explosive) zones.

Safety first — ATEX certification of the chamber interior

CHL ATEX refrigerators carry the marking II 3/- G Ex h IIC T6 Gc/-, which in practice means:

  • Group II – for use outside underground mines.
  • Category 3 (symbol “3/-”) – protection applies to the inner chamber only (Zone 2).
  • Ex h – design limiting the risk of ignition by device components.
  • IIC – suitable for the most hazardous gases (e.g. hydrogen, acetylene).
  • Class T6 – safe operation with substances with auto-ignition temperatures ≥ 85 °C.
  • EPL Gc – protection level of the chamber suitable for Zone 2.

Thermal stability and cooling precision

Forced air circulation ensures uniform conditions throughout the chamber. The operating range is 0 °C to +15 °C, maintained by a precise SMART controller with a clear interface, alarms, and data logging.
